Hi – I am Laura-Elizabeth! Welcome to Life Beyond the Desk!
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After graduating from college, I dedicated myself to my accounting career and working towards my CPA. I spent five years learning and growing in my profession in fantastic ways, but it was finally time to live the dream that I had had since I was 10 – to backpack around the world for a year. And that is just what I am doing!
In February 2015, I did the scariest thing I have ever done. I flew to Mexico and started a 5-month trip as a solo traveler through Central and South America. I also did the second scariest thing I have ever done. I started this blog to document my journey. Until that point, I had never done anything that had felt as natural and as terrifying as putting myself out into the world, being vulnerable, and chasing my dreams. It has been THRILLING!
And now that I have had a taste, there is no going back!
So follow me as I chase my dreams, pursue my passions, and see where this path takes me – whether it is country hopping in a different hemisphere or appreciating the familiarity of my home life in the Bay Area. There is so much Life Beyond the Desk, and I am going to experience it all!
